Gin Cocktails – The Billy Jean Sling

This post is over 90 days old and may contain outdated information, links or references.

With the help of mixologist Vanessa Jay, I’ve crafted up a recipe you can follow to create The Billy Jean Sling. Thanks to the global pandemic that swept the globe this year, we had to get creative when thinking about how to honour our great British events; in this instance, with a gin cocktail! And that is what Tristan Jorgensen our master distiller did when it came to Wimbledon. The oldest tennis tournament in the world and widely regarded as the most prestigious tennis event is normally held at the All England Club in London and has done since 1877. This year (2020) saw the first cancellation of the event since World War II.

In true British style, we love good old-fashioned traditions, and along with the all-white dress code, of course, there is Strawberries and Cream. In 2017 fans consumed 33 tonnes of English Strawberries and 10,000 litres of cream. So, it got us to thinking, we should make a Strawberry & Cream Cocktail. Named by Sarah Llewellin, winner of our Facebook competition may we introduce you to The Billy Jean Sling:

Ingredients:

30ml Marie Jeanne’s Pink Gin

30ml Whipped Cream Liqueur

30ml Grenadine

Fresh Strawberries

Whipped/Squirty Cream

Method:

  1. Combine 30ml of Marie-Jeanne pink gin and 30ml of whipped cream liqueur and shake them well in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Pour 30ml of grenadine into a tall glass, then drop in some ice and strawberries.
  3. Strain in the gin and liqueur mixture.
  4. Top off with soda water.

Garnish: with strawberries and whipped cream.

Game set and match!
